Since 1938, Oregonians in need have turned to their local housing authorities to find a decent, safe place to call home. Housing authorities provide rental assistance for seniors, working families, people with disabilities and others who face life challenges. We acquire and preserve existing housing and construct quality housing developments that make families and communities proud.
We believe in local, community-based solutions because each neighborhood is unique. We make the most of our dollars by partnering with others, such as Head Start and workforce agencies, to improve communities and align resources for more housing opportunities. Oregon housing authorities preserve and develop affordable housing that meets the needs and desires of each community. As a creation of local governments, we are accountable to the public we serve.
An Innovative Approach to Housing
The private marketplace is not meeting all housing needs. We build affordable housing using a unique blend of local, state and federal financing tools. We create partnerships with private developers, local governments, nonprofits and local banks. Our ability to enter into public-private agreements brings housing back within reach for all Oregonians.
